Designing and building Mole Hill Hut was focused on creating a unique experience that would allow our guests to enjoy the spaces in their own right as well as using them as a base to explore the area that we are lucky enough to call home. Just a mile from the River Wye, our home overlooks the valley and enjoys spectacular views of the Black Mountains and the sunsets over the heart of eastern Mid-Wales. We created Mole Hill Hut to allow us to share this special place with our guests and create an escape for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful break in the heart of the Welsh Borders. We've always had a soft spot for shepherds' huts and over the last 15 years or so we've followed their popular resurgence and the talented makers who combine skill and artisan flair in transforming what was once a very humble shepherds’ retreat, into something far more sumptuous for the 21st century.

At the start of 2020, we set about finding a hut builder that shared our vision, and so began the process of transforming a corner of our sheep meadow into an idyllic escape. The result, after two long years, was Mole Hill Hut, lovingly created by Riverside Shepherd Huts in Worcestershire. We added to the experience by creating the Trough, a space that we built ourselves, combining many up-cycled elements to provide what we hope is a memorable and comfortable addition to the Hut.

After lots of researching we picked Riverside as they looked like a nice family run business and they also did the larger size huts we wanted. We liked that you could make everything bespoke to your individual requirements so we designed our own hut (with a lot of attention to detail) and were truly delighted that Riverside were very dedicated in making it all happen. They helped us especially in the kitchen area as we wanted a lot fitting into a small space but it all looked lovely and exactly what we wanted when it was delivered. We are so pleased with the end result and absolutely love our huts. The Riverside team really did turn our dreams into a reality. 

I chose Riverside Shepherd Huts due to their build quality, which has indeed proved to be second-to-none. Everything about the hut is beautifully crafted and the company's attention to detail and customer service has been quite exceptional. There is always someone to answer your questions and the office staff are meticulous in getting the planning and interior design just right. We had a very tricky restricted garden site for delivery but Dave and his team got the hut in skilfully, quickly and without a hitch. I can't recommend this company highly enough: they are the most superb family-run business.

We had been to see a number of Shepherd Hut companies before deciding to place our order with Riverside Shepherds Huts. The build quality and craftsmanship are head and shoulders above the competition and offers amazing value for money.

From initial design consultation to final installation -  the whole process was made smooth, professional and personal by Dave, Jeannie and their team.

They were also able to put us in touch with a planning expert who aided us with local planning issues. The beautiful Hut now sits alongside a wood-fired Scandinavian Hot Tub in our meadow and everyone who has stayed has commented on how fantastic the hut is, with its blend of traditional craftsmanship combined with all the mod cons.

We have hankered after a Shepherd Hut for some while and Dave, Jeannie and the dedicated, skilled team at Riverside Shepherd Huts have fulfilled our dream….and some.  They all seemed genuinely keen and interested in providing exactly what we wanted.  Nothing was too much trouble to cope with and their practical knowledge, helped us to make informed decisions on many aspects of the design.

We are delighted with our hut, which included several additional features we required to make it self sufficient.  All our requests, from an efficient heating system, to ideas for making the most of the space with beautifully crafted cupboards and shelving, were catered for.  The standard of workmanship is extremely high…..it’s reassuring to find a group of people who take such pride in their work.

We operated a Caravan CL site for twenty years at our property as well as a holiday apartment attached to our house, after retiring from full time work we decided that another holiday let would be a better option revenue wise but as we didn't have room to build another apartment we looked at other alternatives.

A shepherd hut seemed to match our requirements plus it was also far less expense than building, after looking at the requirements of planning we searched around for a company to build our hut.

 After reviewing a number of companies we found that in the first instance the build specification of Riverside was far superior than any other on the market, in our view particularly the steel frame structure.

 We then sat down with Jeanie and Dave to discuss our requirements which were actually very different than anything they had so far built.

 Jeanie and Dave cooperated fully with our own design requirements although they were always willing to input their design experience and also really did assist our agent with information for the planning requirements with our local council.

 The result was exactly as we specified and two weeks ahead of programme, we have just holiday rented  the hut with a log fired hot tub for our first twelve months with great success, and the first indications for the second year are looking to improve with occupancy and revenue generated.

I had been looking into alternative living accommodation for a number of years and had been drawn to the Tiny House Movement from USA and began trying to find a way to simplify my lifestyle in a similar way here in the UK.  When the opportunity arose to move to a family small holding in West Wales my cousin mentioned she had found this great company via the internet that welcomed input from customers as to the look and finish of their chosen huts.  As I was intending to live in my hut all year round I knew I needed it to be as large as possible and Riverside Shepherd Huts seemed to be able to offer the size I needed at a price I could afford.  On visiting the team I was immediately struck by the quality and attention to detail that they provided.  Jeannie and her team were enthusiastic and positive from the outset and as such I was convinced they were the company I wanted to construct my dream home.  

 From that moment on they worked so hard to make my ideas come alive and they were always quick to respond to any questions I had regarding the build and the finish of the hut.  The process was incredibly collaborative and creative.  The finished hut (number 106) was delivered to site on a glorious day at the end of September and manoeuvred into place with great care and precision.  It has surpassed all of my expectations and I am constantly delighted by the expert craftsmanship that has gone into my beautiful home.  

 I was amazed by how warm the hut was during the winter months and with the help of a 3kw wood burning stove it occasionally began to feel more like a sauna than a home – however as I learnt to use the stove more efficiently I have been amazed at the huts ability to maintain its heat.  Likewise, with the addition of sliding glass doors I have benefited from solar energy heating the interior during the day time and plentiful natural light.  The design concepts I asked the team to include have been carried out to perfection and the craftsmanship is second to none.  

 Everyone who has seen the hut has been amazed by the quality and I would wholeheartedly recommend Riverside Shepherds Hut to anyone who values a high-quality product in an increasingly competitive market place.  

I can't recommend this friendly and professional company highly enough. I wanted a custom-built artist's studio for my work as a professional botanical illustrator. It had to be small to be located in our garden, and a shepherd's hut seemed the ideal answer. 

 The team at Riverside incorporated every detail I requested, managed to fit a huge plan chest into the design without it taking over the whole hut, and then on top of everything else, delivered the finished hut EARLY and UNDER budget. What more could you ask for?

We met Jeannie & Dave at the Game Fair in 2013. 

We then went to their base in Worcestershire and went through various designs that would suit our exact needs.

 When we looked inside the hut, we noticed that the position of the windows gave us a full view of the gallops. We also had a small kitchen area with a microwave, sink & fridge and a flat screen TV that could be rotated so we could view it when either sat at the desk or in the seating area.

 Everything was discussed and Dave & Jeannie delivered the hut all ready for us to move into- all we had to do was plug it in to the water and electric!

We first saw Riverside Shepherd Huts at the CLA Game Fair and again at Moreton Show and thought a hut would be a useful addition to our small Caravan CL site.

 From the moment we placed our order, Jeannie’s advice and guidance was invaluable and much appreciated as were the build progress reports and photographs received.

We now rent the hut out and the feedback from our guests has been brilliant.

From start to finish, Dave and Jeannie have been professional knowledgeable and friendly in their approach and we have no hesitation in recommending them and their fabulous huts.

Jeannie and Dave made it very easy to choose exactly what we wanted. The combination of Dave's understanding of the construction and Jeannie's eye for design and detail really helped us to come up with the ideal layout for our needs. I knew I wanted an outdoor home office, but without the hassle of a building project and all the disruption that brings. I was unsure of what the solution was going to be until I saw Riverside Shepherd Huts at the Malvern show; from the moment I stepped into their show hut, my mind was made up and my heart was set.

I knew exactly what I wanted the hut to look like, right down to the colour of the light switches and Dave and Jeannie understood all of my design ramblings, kept me updated throughout the project, brought my fusspot ideas to life and delivered me my perfect hut.

I am chuffed to bits with ‘Doris’, as she’s been fondly named. The only problem now is, I spend more time in the hut than the house!

From the moment we first met Jeannie and Dave at the Autumn Show in Malvern, they were both friendly and professional. We immediately fell in love with the show hut and began discussing various possibilities for adding one to our holiday let business.

Due to our circumstances of holiday rentals, we required planning permission. Throughout the long wait, we were in regular contact with Jeannie and Dave. On the day permission was granted, we spoke to them and were invited to their home to discuss 'our hut'.

From that day right through until completion, we were constantly informed about the progress and any changes we wanted. We visited several times to view the hut during the build and discuss various options available. We were always made to feel welcome and nothing seemed too much trouble. What is so nice is that every hut is individual and unique. 

Our hut was completed and delivered on the stated date and carefully placed in position. The overall quality is excellent and all the extra touches help to make the hut like a home.

We are now happy and proud owners of a beautiful shepherd hut in our woodland gardens, which we rent out for holiday accommodation at Eastnor, near Ledbury, Herefordshire. It is self-contained with a shower and toilet, small kitchen area, wardrobe and full sized double bed and exactly what we wanted.

A shepherd hut is something that my husband and I always wanted and one day, whilst visiting the Three Counties Show in Malvern, we came across Riverside Shepherd Huts. They had a wonderful choice of huts that they could show us. We sat down with a glass of wine and they patiently went through several options which were available for us to choose from.

Still being undecided about what we wanted in our shepherd hut, Jeannie and Dave kindly invited us to their home to discuss our requirements further. Their hospitality was fantastic and we both felt comfortable choosing our hut with no sales pressure attached. That evening, we placed an order and the shepherd hut was delivered to our home a few weeks later.

We were so excited and pleased with the shepherd hut, which exceeded all of our expectations. The service that we were given was amazing, as nothing was too much trouble for them to do and they kept offering various options should we require them.

We have not only got an extra room to our home but a wonderful hideaway to relax in; also, a great friendship with Dave and Jeannie with the aftersales service, which is second to none. We had been interested in getting a hut for a while and had spent time looking at hut companies’ websites and displays. At the Malvern Spring Show, we walked into a Riverside Shepherd Hut and immediately knew we had found what we wanted. The wood-burning stove was so pretty and the alcove with the bed made it look so special. The quality of the finish and all the fittings were lovely.

So we spent some time talking to Jeannie and Dave both at the show and at their base in Worcestershire and realised what special people they were. Genuinely friendly, they were keen to understand our vision for our hut and assured us that they could make it happen.

Riverside’s greatest strength is that whatever you want they seem to be able to make it. So, deposit paid, we waited for our hut. Every week we were sent a progress report together with photographs at each stage, which just added to our anticipation. Only one month after ordering, our lovely hut was delivered and, with great precision, manoeuvred to the exact position that we wanted it. 

Nearly three months later, do we like it? We love it. The grandchildren love it, we have ‘hut nights’ in it, we’ve slept in it, eaten in it, entertained in it and had it admired by passers-by. It is so much fun and we are looking forward to a cold winter so that we can light the stove and use it to cook on... and then there’ll be Christmas functions in it… can’t wait! We had been considering purchasing one of the children's huts for some time and finally decided to take the plunge. We have always been so impressed with the construction of the huts and the high quality of the finished product when we have viewed them at the Malvern Show.

When we placed the order, Dave and Jeannie carefully noted all of our requirements, which were followed to the letter. The hut was completed much more quickly than expected and we were kept informed of the progress all the way through. It must be said that the service received throughout this project has been second to none.

The hardest part was positioning the hut in our garden. We have a fairly large garden but there were obstacles to overcome. Dave and Jeannie assessed the situation and got stuck in. We now have the most gorgeous hut which is going to keep our five granddaughters entertained for many years to come.

Dave and Jeannie work hard to build a relationship with their customers, which we appreciated. Nothing is too much trouble.  We feel that we have not just been dealing with a business but have made two new friends.

I’d been considering a shepherd hut for some time. I wanted a place where I could write and use as an office. I researched thoroughly and it became clear very quickly, in this fairly crowded market, that only a few companies make quality huts. Of these, Riverside’s come out on top for me.

The build quality is exceptional and the finish first class. Once I took the time to try out the huts, Riverside’s were clearly the best.

Their huts are very well priced; you can certainly get cheaper, and you can definitely pay more, but nothing matches the quality. On top of that, Jeannie and Dave have been a complete pleasure to deal with. Everything has been on time or early, any late additions and refinements accommodated happily.

I now have a beautiful outdoor office with woodburner and solar power for a fraction of the cost of extending the house, and I can move it wherever I like. I genuinely can’t recommend Riverside Shepherd Huts or Jeannie and Dave highly enough. Don’t buy a hut from anyone until you’ve tried theirs.

We first saw the huts at the CLA game fair and we could not believe the quality and high spec. We knew straight away we wanted them on our glamping site to complement our tented lodges.

The huts needed to be delivered in a short space of time and sure enough they arrived on time. The site was quite muddy where one of the huts had to go, but David and Jeannie were very helpful in getting it in position. 

From start to finish, Jeannie and David were a pleasure to do business with and we would highly recommend the huts.
